Basic Function of Stone Slab Outside Sales Representatives

The basic function of the Stone Slab Outside Sales Representative job is to build and maintain relationships with customers, provide product expertise, and perform the following additional duties as required:

  • Negotiate effectively with consumers.

  • Understand products and market competition.

  • Manage displays and samples.

  • Consult on pricing and promotions.

  • Prepare contracts and quotes.

  • Analyze sales reports.

  • Utilize marketing tools effectively.

Salary Range For Stone Slab Outside Sales Representative

25th Percentile

$63,250

New to the role, with little or no experience; requires more than casual instruction or supervision to perform day-to-day duties

50th Percentile

$75,250

Has the experience to consistently perform core responsibilities without direct supervision; very comfortable with processes and subject matter associated with the role

75th Percentile

$92,450

Value to the organization goes far beyond the ability to perform normal job duties; has rare qualifications that enable consistent contribution in unique ways; ready for next career level when available

Job Requirements

Education

  • Required:  High school diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred:  Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Additional Education and Experience (Required)

  • Outside sales: 1 year

  • Driving: 5 years

  • Slab sales: 1 year

  • Customer Service: 2 years

Experience

  • Required: Minimum two (2) years of related industry experience, Quartz, natural stone, tile, Slab, Countertop, and/or flooring Sales Experience.

  • Preferred: Two (2) plus years of previous Slab Sales experience.

Licensing/Registration/Certification

  • Required: Valid driver's license

  • Preferred: None

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong math skills, calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, and volume.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving

  • Excellent oral and written English language communication skills

  • Provide a high level of customer service

  • Good organizational skills

  • Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with current customers and potential customers within the specific territory.

  • Assist customers by providing knowledge and educating on products to ensure best representation of material.

  • Negotiate well with consumers.

  • Understands our products, our market competition and how to position products to overcome these factors.

  • Manages displays, samples.

  • Understands retail business financials to consult with dealers on retail pricing, advertising, promotions, and ROl.

  • Quotes prices, discuss credit terms and prepares sales contracts for customer orders.

  • Review and analyze various sales reports to identify sales potential with current customers and potential new customers.

  • Utilize any and all marketing tools such as catalogs, brochures, and vendor collateral to broaden reach in a territory and promote company product.

  • Research and analyze customer needs and demands based on market information.

  • Investigates and resolves customer claims/problems with deliveries, returns, and credits.

  • Travels 40% - 80% locally, TBD.

  • Performs additional duties as required and or requested.

  • Ability to determine solutions for customers.

  • Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
